CELP is a pre-university English language course for the students, particularly for those foreign students who have inadequate language level for studying undergraduate program in the medium of English in a university. It is a qualifying language course for such foreign students.
CELP is primarily a language-based intensive course. It stresses on instilling the four language skills in the students. In the first semester CELP focuses on improving the language proficiency level of the students and developing the qualities of personality and leadership in them. It will further expose them to listening and speaking situations thereby bringing them out of the shell of shyness and inhibitions. In the process they are expected to discover the potentialities in themselves and to achieve an over-all development of both the language and the life skills. The 2nd and the 3rd Semesters, in particular, concentrates on developing the four skills but with more stress on reading and writing materials ranging from language lessons to comprehension of simple poems and stories so that, afterwards, they achieve the ability to study 4-year undergraduate program in the medium of English in any subject, particularly in English.
In addition the students will be engaged in various language and extra-curricular activities in order to expose them to different speaking situations, life-skills and personality development challenges and to develop the skills and confidence of overcoming those.
The duration of CELP will be one year divided into three semesters each of 4 months.
The students will be given certificate of CELP as per his/her achievements. To obtain it, the students will have to complete and pass in all the courses in all the semesters with a minimum CGPA of 2.00.
Once the admission of a foreign student in CELP in ASAUB is completed, the ASAUB authority will issue letter requesting the appropriate authority for Student Visa.
