Examination Rules
Eligibility for entry to examination:
No student shall be eligible to take part in any semester final examination unless
- S/he has officially registered for a course ; and
- S/he has fulfilled the requisite percentage of class attendance & other requirements such as fees, etc.
Absence in Continuous Assessment and Mid-Term Examination:
A student who appeared at the semester final examination but did not appear at the mid-term examination and / or missed other course works, e.g., Assignment, Test, Quiz etc. , s/he will be graded on the basis of the assessment of the work completed in that course. S/he will get zero in the assignment/quizzes etc. that s/he has missed.
A student who has failed to appear at the mid-term exam due to any unavoidable reason must apply to sit for the makeup examination. If approved, subject to valid reason, the concerned department may take necessary measure to hold the mid-term examination within 21 days of the last day of holding the mid-term examination. S/he will have to pay the requisite fee for each course to sit for the makeup examination.
Absence in the Final Examination:
A student who has failed to appear at the semester final examination due to any unavoidable reason must apply within 15 (fifteen) days of the commencement of the next semester to sit for makeup examination. If approved, subject to valid reasons, the concerned department may take necessary measure to hold make up examination of the course within 22 days of the publication of the result of that semester. S/he will have to pay BDT. 1000 for each course to sit for the makeup examination. The Revised Final Grade (Grade Sheet) for each student with application for makeup examination from the program must be lodged to the Controller of Examinations with the recommendation of the Dean of the concerned Faculty. When a grade in a course is changed from ‘Incomplete’ (I) to any grade, the previous ‘Incomplete’ (I) grade will be automatically cancelled.
Special Examination
A student is expected to attend all scheduled examinations. If extraordinary circumstances such as illness of the student, death of parents, etc. prevent a student from attending the scheduled examination and that affects her/his performance in an examination, s/he may wish to submit a request for special consideration. Any such requests must be submitted to the Controller of Examinations with recommendation of the Course Teacher/Coordinator and Dean. In case of medical ground, proper medical certificate is to be submitted.
Such special examination will be arranged within two weeks after the publication of semester result. The fee for such arrangement is BDT 500/= for Mid Term Examination and BDT 1000/= for Semester Final Examination.
Examination Offences and Disciplinary Actions
The following shall be considered as Examination Offence:
1. Communication with one another in the Examination Hall during examinations;
2. Smoking inside the Examination Hall;
3. Absence of Invigilator’s Signature on the Script;
4. Possession of incriminating documents;
5. Copying from incriminating documents printed or handwritten or from another script;
6. Using abusive language, or holding out threats to the Invigilator or any person in or outside the Examination Hall;
7. Creating obstruction or disturbance in and outside the Examinations Hall;
8. Assault or attempt to assault the Chief Supervisor, Officer in Charge, or the Invigilator or anyone else in and outside the Examination Hall;
9. Smuggling of script into and out of Examination Hall;
10. Replacing the cover or any page of the answer script;
11. Writing in unauthorized space of the answer script;
12. Using mobile phone during examination;
13. Substitution of or addition to answer script without lawful authority;
14. Assisting/abetting the commission of the above offences;
15. Such other acts on the part of an examinee as in the opinion of the Chief Supervisor/Officer-in-Charge may constitute an offence.
Disciplinary action in the form of expulsion from the semester, cancellation of the examination or debarring from appearing at the subsequent examinations shall be taken by the Disciplinary Committee and approved by the university authority as per gravity of offences.
