I am a new student at ASA University Bangladesh - How can I use the Library?
During registration, you will be given an ID Card. Primarily; you can use the library showing your ID card. Within few days you will get a Library Card from the ASAUB Library. None can use the ID cards after having a library card. You have to bring your Library Membership Card and show to the librarian in order to enter. This card allows you to borrow books and access the library facilities.
I have lost my Library Membership Card. How do I get a replacement?
Once you are aware that if you lost the Library Membership Card, you must report it at once to the Librarian to avoid unauthorized use. Replacement Library Membership card can be obtained from the Library. You will need to fill in a form and provide us with your personal details and Student ID card if you are a student. The replacement fee is TK 100.
What are the Library Opening Hours?
The ASAUB Library is regularly kept open normally in between 8:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. without any break through Saturday to Thursday. It is a good news for the students of ASAUB that library would be kept open in Fridays also from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with one and half an hour break for prayer and lunch (from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.) However, it remains closed on public holidays.
I am a Graduate of the University - Can I use the Library?
The students who have completed the study from ASAUB are not permitted to use the library. In case of emergency, the graduates of ASAUB can also join the Library and register to use all the library facilities and information resources at a nominal fee of TK. 500 per year. Graduate who wish to borrow books have to pay an extra TK 1000 fee per year and a refundable deposit of TK 5000.
Borrowing from the library
How many books can I borrow?
Borrowing depends on the category you belong to. A student may borrow 01 (One) book and 1 CD-ROM at a time for 01 calendar week (i.e. 07 days). Books may be re-issued for another week if book is available or there is no other demand.
A faculty member of ASAUB may borrow 03 (three) books and 2 CD-ROMs at a time for 02 calendar weeks (i.e. 14 days). Such books may be renewed for another week if these are not in demand.
An officer may borrow 2 books and 1 CD-ROM at a time for 02 calendar weeks (i.e. 14 days). Such books may be renewed for another week if these are not in demand.
A BOG member of ASAUB may borrow 02 books and 01 CD-ROM, at a time for 02 calendar weeks (i.e. 14 days). Such books may be renewed for another week if these are not in demand. .
Can I borrow without my Library Membership Card?
Library Membership card is required to enter the Library. If you don't have the Library Membership Card, you may be allowed to enter the Library by getting a temporary ID card from the Administration Office. Remember that your card is personal and non-transferable, so you cannot give it to another student to use it for borrowing. If it has been lost or stolen you should report it to the Administration to avoid unauthorized use. In the meantime you can reserve the books you wish to borrow.
The book I need is on loan - Can it be kept for me when it is returned?
If the book you require is on loan you should fill out a Reservation Card, available at the Library Office. The item will be kept for you for two days. If it is not collected within the week, it will be returned to the shelves.
I can not find the book I want to borrow, what should I do?
Be sure that when you find a book on the catalogue, write down the correct class number in order to locate where the book is shelved. If you do not find it on the shelves, check where the Library keeps the books awaiting for shelving. If you still cannot find it, see if somebody is already reading it in the Library. If the book is not already borrowed by another member, please notify the librarian so they can search for it.
