The 49th Batch of the Department of Law, ASA University Bangladesh, organized a remarkable and educational court visit.
Our destination for the day was the District and Sessions Judge Court, Gazipur.
The selection of Gazipur carried deep emotional significance for us. Our respected guardian and beloved teacher, Mr. Md. Saiful Alam sir, once served in Gazipur. Under his close guidance, we had the opportunity to explore the very district where he worked with such dedication. The visit became even more meaningful as it was filled with reflections on his memories and remarkable contributions to the judiciary.
The Honorable Senior District and Sessions Judge of Gazipur, Ms. Momtaz Parvin, was once a colleague of our revered Mr. Md. Saiful Alam Sir. When Mam first joined in Kushtia, Sir served as the Additional District Judge of Kushtia, where they worked together.
We arrived early in the morning at the Gazipur Court premises, where we were warmly received by Ms. Momtaz Parvin, Senior District and Sessions Judge, along with a Joint District and Sessions Judge and two Senior Assistant Judges, one of whom is an alumna of our Department of Law and a proud member of the first batch. The Senior District and Sessions Judge graciously welcomed our respected Mr. Md. Saiful Alam Sir with flowers, followed by a tea and light refreshment arrangement in his honor, which added a warm and personal touch to the beginning of the day.
Following the reception, our students were divided into several groups and guided by court officers for the visit. We had the opportunity to observe witness examinations and cross-examinations in both civil and criminal cases. In every courtroom, the judges interacted with the students in a friendly manner and thoughtfully explained various aspects of the cases for their better understanding. The learned advocates also co-operate with a respectable behaviour.
Additionally, we visited various court offices and branches, including the Sherista, Nazarat, GR Branch, Legal Aid Office, and the Jail Hajot and many more. We learned about the functions and operations of various sections from the officers in charge of each department. The students also took the opportunity to ask questions according to their interests and gained many new insights. In addition, we had the chance to practically observe different files and documents during the visit.
After the court visit, our students arranged a delightful lunch in the conference room. Present at the lunch were Ms. Momtaz Parvin, Senior District and Sessions Judge, Gazipur; Mr. Shahriar Kabir, the first Metropolitan Sessions Judge of Gazipur; Mr. Md. Abdus Salam, Chief Judicial Magistrate; Mr. Ahmed Shahriar Tariq, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Gazipur; and one Senior Assistant Judge.
During lunch, the Honorable Senior District and Sessions Judge respectfully offered her own chair to our beloved Mr. Md. Saiful Alam Sir as a gesture of deep respect and admiration. The lunch was followed by dessert and sweets, which were graciously offered by the honorable judges, a thoughtful gesture that made the occasion even more enjoyable
The honorable judges shared valuable guidance with us, offering insights that will serve as inspiration and direction for our future. Their words touched upon fond memories of the past and the diverse journeys that await law students in their professional lives.
As witnesses to this beautiful and enlightening day, I was accompanied by Dr. Mausumi Akter Ma’am, Qamaruzzaman Sir, and Arabi Afrin Ma’am. We deeply missed Tahnin Ma’am, Moneessa Ma’am, and Pinky Ma’am, whose presence would have made the day even more special.
We express our sincere gratitude to the ASA University Bangladesh authorities for arranging our transportation. Once again, best wishes to the 49th Batch for making this day a success.
Words fall short to express our heartfelt respect and appreciation for our honorable mentor, Mr. Md. Saiful Alam Sir. His constant presence throughout the day, his inspiring discussions, and his invaluable contributions behind the entire arrangement made this visit truly unforgettable. We remain deeply grateful to him.
Through such experiential learning beyond textbooks, we believe our students will continue to grow, gaining knowledge that will serve them well in real-life legal practice and beyond.
