Seminar on AI and Cybersecurity Held at ASA University Bangladesh

ASA University Bangladesh (ASAUB) organized a seminar on “Bridging Academia and Industry through AI and Cybersecurity” on Wednesday at the Conference Room of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). The seminar was chaired by Professor Dr. S. M. Rezaul Karim, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of ASAUB.

In his presidential address, Professor Dr. Karim underscored the urgent need to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity into academic curricula, alongside fostering closer collaboration with industry. He cautioned that without strong industry–academia partnerships, Bangladesh risks lagging behind in preparing a skilled workforce for the emerging digital economy.

Professor Dr. Mohammad Faruque, Member of the Board of Trustees (BOT), ASAUB, attended as Special Guest. In his remarks, he reaffirmed the University’s vision of advancing innovation and research, and expressed his commitment to supporting initiatives that equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical exposure to real-world industry challenges.

The Chief Guest, Professor Dr. Mohammad Masroor Ali, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), lauded ASAUB’s initiative. He highlighted the growing global threats of cybersecurity and stressed that sustainable solutions can only be achieved through a synergy of academic research and industrial practice. He also encouraged students to actively engage in multidisciplinary research in AI, cybersecurity, and data protection.

The Keynote Speech was delivered by Professor Dr. Mohammed Abdur Rahman, Head of the Cyber Security and Forensic Computing Department, College of Computer and Cyber Sciences, University of Prince Muqrin, Madinah, KSA. He illustrated the wide-ranging applications of AI—including in disease diagnosis and treatment, energy conservation through smart automation, intelligent traffic monitoring, and smart city management. He further discussed global trends in AI, rising cyber risks, and the need for international collaboration in research. Dr. Rahman urged Bangladeshi universities to establish joint programs with foreign institutions to prepare graduates with globally competitive skills, particularly in AI and cybersecurity.

The seminar concluded with an engaging interactive session where faculty members, officers, staff, researchers, and students of ASAUB actively participated. The program was organized by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of ASAUB.
