Introduction
ASA University Bangladesh is the proud pioneer of the Department of Applied Sociology-a uniquely first of its kind program in Bangladesh. The program envisions capacity building and life-skill development of the graduates to meet upcoming job market demands in fast moving social contexts. The Applied Sociology program is mandated to translate knowledge-production into efficient and effective social engineering toward sustainable solutions to emerging social problems.
In other words, Applied Sociology transforms theories into practices. It is the 'practical arena' of sociological scholarship. Applied Sociology incorporates emerging sociological discourses with process research. In doing so, this scholastic trend continuously walks through diverse social realities. This is, in fact, an outline to sophisticated social analysis and informed activism for meeting complex societal needs over time.
